Swindon Barbell aims to promote strength sports within Swindon and Wiltshire as well as promoting it’s members in Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting.  Check out all that is going on with the club for February and beyond in 2019.

Help for Heroes taster day 

Date: Sat Feb 16

Location: Newport

Information:  Once again, head coach Charlie is joining with Help for Heroes to use Powerlifting as a sport for recovery for our injured military personnel.  This even will be run by Help for Heroes, so if you are involved in the military and would like to know more, please do get in touch with them.

British Classic Bench Championships

Date: Sat 23 Feb

Location: Milton Keynes

Information: Head coach Charlie and National referee Helen are heading to Milton Keynes to watch Britain’s finest benchers compete for the national titles.  Charlie will be assisting 2 lifters this day, but if you are going and need some support do get in touch, for if she can help she will!

British Powerlifting Level 1 Coaching Course

Date: Sat 26 and Sun 27 Jan

Location: Swindon Barbell, Trow Lane, Lyneham, SN154DL.

Swindon Barbell’s Schools Clubs

Swindon Barbell provide Powerlifting and Weightlifting classes to schools and colleges across north Wiltshire.  Check out what we have coming up throughout 2018.

New College Powerlifting Club

Date: Every Friday 12-1pm starting again Jan 11 2019.

Location: New College Swindon Gym

Details:  Every week coaches from Swindon Barbell will be teaching students and staff of New College Swindon the basics of strength training leading on to Powerlifting specific classes later in the year.

If you are a student or staff member and want to get involved, get in touch with us!  Places are booked up for this term but there will be availability in the January term, so you better get in touch soonest.

Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Powerlifting Club

Date: Mondays 3-4pm Term 4 2019.

Location: RWBA 

Details:  Following the success of 2 years of the Powerlifting club running at RWBA and being part of 2 incredible sports days, RWBA have invited Swindon Barbell to continue their Powerlifting club throughout the autumn and winter terms.

Juniors Club

Date: Monday’s 5-6pm starting again Feb 25th.

Location: Swindon Barbell

Information: for those aged between 11 and 18 years old you get the opportunity to learn strength training for the benefits of health, your sport or to look to get in to Powerlifting or Olympic Weightlifting in the future.

Classes are £5 or free when you become a member (£15 per month).

ParaPowerlifting events

Swindon Barbell’s head coach Charlie Shotton-Gale is part of the Invictus games Powerlifting Team coaching staff and will be supporting the team leading up to the games in October.

The club has open sessions for all abilities but has specific parapowerlifting events Monday’s 7-8pm at Swindon Barbell.  If you would like to know more email us or book in your session.

Disability Sport Swindon gym sessions

Swindon Barbell have been working with Disability Sport Swindon to support all a variety of physical and mental abilities access strength training.

The events are held on Wednesdays 1-3pm but please email us with more details of days that Swindon Barbell are coaching.
