In 2015, after many years competing within the former GBPF, Charlie Shotton-Gale joined forces with masters lifter Helen Toms and Swindon Storm’s Steve Bennett to form Swindon Barbell.
Originally based in Swindon, we found our current home in 2016 and have expanded from a 4 station room to a multiroom facility with all the equipment needed to either start or progress your powerlifting journey.
Since the start we have seen all manner of lifter enter our gym and compete under our name in both Powerlifting and Weightlifting.
Lifters from novice to international medalists and European champions.
We have also focused heavily on improving strength sports in the local community from afterschools clubs, college clubs, inclusive clubs through Swindon Council and special education schools to enrichment days and much more.
We pride ourselves on not only providing some of the highest quality coaching you can find but working hard to make strength sports accessible to all.
